Following a few “trendy” blogs, there’s something architectural related posted nearly every day. Although I am not really a building person, I do like checking this kind of stuff. Especially if a building looks like a couple having sex, doggy style. A doggy style building.
I am pretty much 100% sure that you’ve seen it. The “Domestikator” building that was built temporary for the annual Ruhrtriennale Festival in Bochum, Germany. To make it extra special, it’s used as a hotel capsule for VIPs. You pervy VIPs, you!
According to Rookje Meijerink of Atelier Van Lieshout, “The artwork pays tribute to the ingenuity, the sophistication and the capacities of humankind, to the power of organisation, and to the use of this power to dominate, domesticate the natural environment.” She added that responses were very positive by all, professionals, press and the general public, what ended up causing quite a buzz in print, television and online.
No questions asked, this doggy style building does look like a couple having sex.
Funny thing is, if you search for “architecture porn,” you may guess what you will find. Nothing related to pornography, at all. It’s like food porn and stuff like that. Only beautiful photos of incredible buildings. I ended up reading many discussions about why would you want to call food or architecture porn when there’s nothing porn related to it. Some approve it while the rest are against it. We all know why but it’s still silly to call it porn. Doesn’t make much sense. However, when it comes to the doggy style building, well, this is architecture porn! Especially with that name. The “Domestikator.”
There’s also a poll, Irish Mirror runs on the website, where they ask readers whether or not the building looks like a couple having sex. The “well obviously” option is well ahead of “not at all” and “at a certain angle,” sitting at 100%. No matter if it’s from the front, back, left, or right, this doggy style building OBVIOUSLY looks like a couple having sex. Prove me wrong!
