Durex wants us to join forces and support the creation of safe sex emoji.

The popularity of emojis amongst smartphone users is increasing rapidly. Users are using this one emoji (crying/laughing emoji) so much it was crowned Oxford’s 2015 “Word Of The Year.” I guess we are getting lazy AF and rather throw together a few pictographs instead of typing the actual words. And this applies to sex talk as well aka sexting. Why would one even want to write all those long words when you can simply put an eggplant and a peach emoji and everyone knows what’s up (almost). Not to mention, this way of saying you want to get naughty is way cutter.

This being said, plus World’s Aids Day (December 1st) being just around the corner and safe sex still being very important, Durex came up with an idea of creating the safe sex emoji aka #CondomEmoji. After all, there’s an emoji for nearly anything so why wouldn’t there be one for condom as well?
According to Durex, research found that, by inserting a condom emoji in a sex conversation, people will receive more awareness around putting protection into their sex lives. Furthermore, this kind of emoji will enable youngsters to overcome the embarrassing discussion around safe sex.
While in first place it would be much better for parents to get their kids comfortable talking about safe sex and sex in general, this approach is definitely a cool way of saying it.

Now it is up to you and me and all of us to bring the safe sex emoji to life. Durex asks for one million peeps to use and share the #CondomEmoji hashtag as much as possible. If this number will be achieved, Unicode Consortium will get it done.
No matter if you find this funny, cool, stupid or whatever, let’s stand together and support the creation of the first ever safe sex emoji. By joining forces we might start sending out condom emojis on December 1st. Oh wait, that’s tomorrow!
Protect yourself and spread the safe sex awareness!
